AMAZINGNESS THE PROJECT

amazingness drawing

The Amazingness project is the main focus of my personal work. It is about nature in the urban environment, and the complex and subtle interaction between the two.

Using photography as my main means of communication, focussing on the colours, shapes, patterns, textures, and movement of nature interacting with the man-made, the little details of life existing, living, growing, decaying, being, enjoying, never giving up despite the concrete, the weed killer, the imposed structure of the built environment, I aim to encourage people to keep looking and keep discovering.

Every day the sky is different, seasons change, different flowers grow, buildings weather, shadows appear and disappear, rain drops splash, puddles dry up, blossom tumbles in the wind, colours change with the changing light…there is always something new to enjoy.

Amazingness is largely a photography project, the photographs being taken mostly in urban London. An important aspect of the work is that it actually shows the interaction between nature and built structures, often in terms of colour, shape and form, showing how one thing often enhances the other, but also giving context to the image.

The location of each photograph is always displayed with the image. This is to emphasise the fact that Amazingness is everywhere, not just in parks and other ‘scenic’ locations, but on your very own street, on your way to work or to the shops.
